About Dolomite

A cost-effective way

Golden Bay Dolomite helps maintain a healthier budget too

GBD is a cost-effective locally sourced magnesium fertiliser

Other sources of magnesium fertiliser like compound horticulture product and animal health supplements are predominately imported products. They tend to be more expensive per tonne and susceptible to price fluctuations as imported products come with shipping requirements. In a volatile economic environment, locally sourced and supplied products such as GBD can represent a reliable economic option.

Applying Golden Bay Dolomite offers the benefits of both calcium and magnesium along with the following

GBD raises soil pH more effectively than liming alone

  • An optimal pH is critical for crops and pasture growth, at pH levels less than 6.0 the availability of key nutrients can become compromised.

  • Dolomite is a good alternative to traditional agLime when magnesium is also required. Due to its efficiency, the magnesium content lifts the pH 1.6x more than calcium alone.

The neutrality of GBD means it can be mixed with a wide range of fertiliser products

The only fertiliser products that cannot be mixed with GBD are Superphosphate and the trace element Iron this allows you to tailor mixes to address specific trace element deficiencies. Trace elements are vitally important for healthy plants and animals, incorporating them helps achieve a balanced fertiliser programme.

Golden Bay Dolomite helps build a natural foundation for healthy farm systems

Getting the correct building blocks in place can help reduce the need for additional crop and animal health supplements

Calcium is a core nutrient for healthy plant root, stem and leaf growth while supporting critical functions such as nitrogen fixation and the reproduction of beneficial soil microbes. Magnesium has a chief role in the plant’s metabolism being actively involved in photosynthesis, sugar synthesis and starch translocation – plant growth and nutrient density are enhanced by both minerals.
